Meet Our Doctors
Joseph Arrieta, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1995, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Visual Science from Valdosta State College. Following graduation, Dr. Arrieta served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where he was chief of the basic training in-processing optometry clinic which allowed him to practice full-scope optometry and further sharpen his clinical skills.
Dr. Arrieta has been practicing optometry since 1995 and is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. Born and raised in Florida, he says he chose a career in optometry because he was inspired by a hometown eye doctor. For Dr. Arrieta, the most rewarding part of being an optometrist is building strong relationships with his patients so he can better address their visual needs.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Arrieta loves spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and volunteering with Knights of Columbus.
Huong-Trinh Nguyen, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1997, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Southwestern University. She began practicing optometry in 1997 and is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
After moving to Boerne in 1999 with her optometrist husband, Dr. Joseph Arrieta, she was a relief doctor at various optometric offices until joining a commercial practice in San Antonio. In 2002, she accepted a contract position at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and the Fort Sam Optometry Clinic where she provided full-scope optometric care to retirees, dependents, and active-duty service members for 11 years.
Dr. Nguyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1975. She says her own history of strabismus since the age of 4, along with surgery at age 18, played a part in her decision to become an optometrist. Dr. Nguyen especially values the time spent getting to know her patients and cultivating strong relationships that help her solve their individual eye care needs.
In her free time away from the office, Dr. Nguyen loves spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching movies, and doing arts and crafts projects. She also enjoys volunteering at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church through their various ministries.
